Again? Well, this one is not that far from the Quebec border so I could actually use this if ever go to Maine. Then again, who ever goes to Maine!? :p
 
Hurray! I drive to Southwest Harbor, Maine every fall by way of Montreal. It always seems that the drive down to Maine is great: sunny, warm, beautiful fall colors. And then the trip back is grey, cold, and rainy. If I stop to charge in Bangor and the weather is foul, I can't quite make it back to Magog, QC. Going via Augusta is a bit better, but I still have to make some stops at destination chargers. Interestingly, I've usually stopped and used the Tesla destination charger at the Stony Brook Campground in Newry, which is just a mile or so up the road from Bethel. So, this SC will work perfectly for me. And it's only ~111 miles to Magog from here. Hope it's operational by October.

Given the recent significant increase in Supercharger pricing, It could end up cheaper to run power and charge at the camp. :p


I didn't ask Elon for my $5,000 back on my Stealth.....

Suddenly the cost proposition of the $5,000 vs. free supercharging doesn't seem as skewed. Considering how often I'll charge at either Kennebunk, Bethel, my local one to get enough charge for the trip up, and anything southbound....I think I made the right call.

I always love these stories about the difference made when a hole in the network is filled (or will be in this case). I hope that the Supercharger price increase is actually used to keep the rollout going even as the money gets tight again.

My wife is an avid runner, and wants to run the cross-border race in Lubec, Maine in June. (I may also run...but the 5K. I'm not as crazy as her.)

There is currently a hole in the network there. The Baileyville SC will fix that (and open up travel into NB). Hopefully they can get that one online by then.

Oh Baileyville will definitely help. But not ideal.
Tesla _says_ it's going to have a Bar Harbor Supercharger. If they put it in Ellsworth instead, Augusta-Ellsworth-Lubec would be a reasonable route.
Ellsworth has a Hannaford Supermarket. Tesla is putting Superchargers in at least 2 Hannaford lots.

I was delighted when I saw that Tesla is planning a SC in Bar Harbor, although I'll probably never use it: Every year I go to the same family-run hotel in Southwest Harbor (Seawall Motel). A few years ago, I asked them to put in a NEMA 14-50 outlet so I could drive my Model S there. They were so excited about the idea that I put them in touch with Tesla's Destination Charging program, and now they have two 100 amp Tesla High Powered wall chargers and a Clipper Creek charger. So, I just do my charging right at the hotel. The owners are thrilled with the extra customers the chargers have brought in for them. When I visited last year, there were a few nights where all three chargers were in use. Having the SC up in Bar Harbor will bring even more Teslas to the area which means even more customers for the hotel. The owners are already making plans for adding more chargers.

I do wish Tesla would get Chademo or CCS working for the Model 3 as I'd like to take my M3 this year, and it would be nice to stop at some of the third party chargers along the way, although it won't strictly be necessary once the Bethel SC is in place.
 
Thanks for encouraging them to install a destination charger - they were the final destination of our first long distance trip, and we’ve since been there a couple of times.

Cannot wait for one up Lubec/Baileyville, I cannot make it to Moncton NB without something close to the border.
