FOIA docs are split into 5 segments, attached. @corywright

Address: 1301 W 8 Mile Road, Detroit, MI 48203
Coords: 42.44553442887716, -83.11792040290425
Details: 12 V3 stalls, 3 cabinets, 1 LED light post, some nearby EV Go Chargers

EV Go chargers are already being installed, their equipment has arrive on-scene last I checked.

My own side comment: this is BARELY within the city limits of Detroit. This is your "Detroit" location, Tesla? The grey pin is the Meijer location, the red outline in the city of Detroit boundary.

At first, I thought that is a very odd place to put the "Detroit" Supercharger. But after thinking about it for a bit, I guess it makes sense. You really don't need a Supercharger downtown. When you go down there, just park somewhere with Level 2. You're more likely to use the Supercharger on your way out of Downtown, and the 8 Mile Meijer location works for heading North on I-75.

I'd probably prefer if they had placed it somewhere in Madison Heights, which would be useful for both I-75 and I-696 traffic as well, but I guess any additional Superchargers in Michigan are a good thing!

Thrilled to see this permit. I visit the Royal Oak/Troy area a few times a year and spend a fair amount of time charging many miles away. Called tesla months ago and was told they were working on a SC at Fox Run Golf club in RO. Called city of RO and Fox Run and no one heard about it... Decades ago I lived across from the hotel in an upper flat that is no longer there on Winchester. Hope it is a much safer location than it was then.

Ferndale doesn’t start until the north side of 8 Mile, and Royal Oak is north of Ferndale. The outskirts of Detroit are still Detroit. It’ll be interesting to see what Tesla actually names this once it’s open.

I also agree that this area is not unsafe. Having visited for years, I’d say the majority of the Detroit area is not unsafe, but there are, of course, areas that are.

I used to live in Ferndale and go to this Meijer frequently. I would have no qualms using this location during the operating hours of Meijer (I think this one closes at 10 or 11 pm). Detroit PD actually usually has a few cars parked right where these chargers are going. You could argue that's a bad sign, but I'm guessing it's for retail theft purposes. I agree this isn't really a "Detroit" location, but it's a good location for easy access for people going into/out of Detroit and it's got Meijer plus several food options nearby.
